In the immediate future (2021), the vaccines to be rolled out in Australia will be Pfizer and AstraZeneca.

Realistically AstraZeneca will only be available for the most prioritised group (ie. staff in involved in the vaccination program, hotel quarantine staff, airport staff etc.). Immunosuppressed/cancer patients will then be prioritised amongst other patients.

Initial roll out is aimed for March-April, and May-August will likely be when most of our patients are expected to be vaccinated.

Community roll out will be done through GP clinics and designated hospitals. More information will be forthcoming with further directives from the Dept Health & Human Services.

All of the vaccines work and are safe for immunocompromised patients. We strongly recommend patients and their families to receive the vaccine when it is their turn.
